Transportation and Parking Minimize

Transportation is the responsibility of the individual high schools. If needed, the Illinois Terminal website offers information on various public transportation options such as Amtrak and Greyhound. Peoria Charter Coach Company also offers daily bus service between campus and Chicago.

Directions to Krannert Center for the Performing Arts (500 S Goodwin Ave, Urbana, IL 61801)

IMPORTANT: Please be mindful of the many crosswalks when driving on campus, and always give the right of way to pedestrians.

As a general rule, please follow all University parking signs and permits very carefully, and make sure this information is passed on to all drivers. If a vehicle is parked where it shouldn't be, it will have to be moved immediately, or else it may be ticketed or even towed. Neither the Festival nor the University is responsible for parking tickets or fines.

BUSES/TRUCKS: If the vehicle cannot fit in a single, regular parking space, it will need to be parked in Lot F-23 (on Florida Ave. near Lincoln Ave.). NOTE: THERE IS NO ROOM NEAR KRANNERT FOR PARKING LARGE VEHICLES – DRIVERS SHOULD PICK UP AND DROP OFF STUDENTS AT STREETS ADJACENT TO KRANNERT, BUT VEHICLES MUST BE PARKED OFF-CAMPUS OR IN LOT F-23.

Buses/trucks may park in Lot F-23 after 4:00 pm on Thursday and anytime on Friday and Saturday.

CARS/VANS: On Thursday before 5:00 pm, limited parking is available at meters ($1/hr; use the MobileMeter app or bring quarters) on the streets surrounding KCPA, in Lot D-5 (KCPA garage), in Lot D-9 (east of Illinois Street Residence Hall) and in Lot D-22 (south of Levis Faculty Center). Many meters do not have to be fed in the evening, but check the actual meter to be sure. Bagged meters require a special pass displayed on the vehicle dashboard and are not available for Festival parking.

Parking restrictions on Friday are essentially the same as Thursday. On Saturday, University-owned parking lots around KCPA are available at no cost all day. Some meters do charge on Saturdays, so be sure to check the meter carefully.

If needed, the Festival has single day meter permits available. These hang tags are good for University “I” meters only and can be obtained at KCPA at check-in. One hang tag is needed per vehicle per day; however, you should only need it for Friday if you are not arriving until Thursday evening (and meters are not patrolled on Saturdays). Scratch off the appropriate month, date and year on the tag only for the day you are using it, and hang it with the date facing outward from your windshield.
