IHSTF UIUC Performance Spaces Colwell Playhouse @ Krannert Center for the Performing Arts The Colwell Playhouse is the main stage of the UIUC Department of Theatre and also hosts dance concerts, music events, and touring shows. Its continental seating plan seats 674 people, and two small balconies accommodate wheelchairs. The proscenium stage measures 38 feet wide and 30 feet deep, with 3,990 square feet of backstage space. A computerized lighting system and two Zenon followspots are available, in addition to sound reinforcement. The Playhouse has two large dressing rooms and a green room area with vending machines.
